Grok Build Allegedly Uploads Codebases
nickcraske · x · 2026-07-15
A reverse engineering analysis of xAI's Grok Build binary in a controlled environment revealed that the program uploads entire codebases to xAI's storage services, even without any tool calls being invoked.
The post also shared a viable auditing method: the author created a prompt and a Python script to track which local repositories Grok collected, queued archives for upload, and which archive IDs remain recognizable by the xAI storage API.
