AssemblyAI Launches Sync API

AssemblyAI · x · 2026-07-15

AssemblyAI has officially launched the Sync API, focusing on synchronous speech-to-text: text is returned almost instantly after the user stops speaking, with latency as low as 134ms.

This effectively splits speech transcription into three modes: real-time (transcribing as you speak), synchronous (instant results after speaking), and asynchronous (batch processing/long audio). This update primarily fills the gap between real-time and batch processing.
