The author notes that one of the most exhausting aspects of agentic engineering is the significant effort required to develop an intuition for "which model fits which task"—an intuition that often needs recalibration every few months.
They compare this fatigue to the early days of wrestling with new programming languages or frameworks. Engineers must not only handle task decomposition and orchestration but also continuously track changes in model capabilities, otherwise, their accumulated experience quickly becomes obsolete.
