Lecture Intro: AI for Buildings
priyald17 · x · 2026-07-14
This post introduces a lecture on AI for Buildings, presented at the Climate Change AI Summer School.
The core premise is that buildings are an ideal setting for climate-focused AI, as people spend about 90% of their time indoors, and buildings account for roughly one-third of global energy consumption. The lecture will cover case studies ranging from energy disaggregation and effective sensing to data-driven control, highlighting where AI can help and where an understanding of physical mechanisms remains necessary.
