Amodei: AI Could Become a "Nation of Geniuses"

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei believes that within the next decade, data centers might run AI systems equivalent to "a country of geniuses" rather than a single superintelligence.

He assigns a 90% probability to this, attributing his confidence to Anthropic's rapid growth: revenue scaling from $0 to $100 million in 2023, $1 billion in 2024, and a projected $10 billion in 2025, with billions more added in January alone.

He notes this isn't a new insight—he began modeling it back in 2019 when scaling laws emerged, though the probability was only 50% then.

The real uncertainty lies not in "intelligence" itself, but in "verifiability":

He concludes that by 2035, the question won't be whether AI is smart enough, but whether we can trust and verify its outputs.
