AI Could Trigger Super-Exponential Growth

Ryan Greenblatt believes the AI "singularity" won't take decades and will arrive much faster than most anticipate.
His core thesis is that if AI becomes smart enough, it can automate cognitive labor and further drive the expansion of robots, chips, energy, and factory capacity. Theoretically, a robotic workforce could "replicate" to create more chips, energy, and robots in under a year, forming exponential growth. Technological progress would, in turn, accelerate this cycle, leading to super-exponential growth.
He draws a parallel to human history: over the past 2,000 years, the population has grown about 35x, while per capita GDP has grown roughly 20x, suggesting that capacity and technological expansion are naturally primed for a phase of sustained acceleration.
