How Should AI Compute Be Allocated?

The author argues that tech companies' talk of "democratizing access" is often just a polite way of saying "we want more users," which doesn't inherently represent moral superiority.
They further advocate that global computing resources should be used more efficiently. A reply counters that AI companies aren't necessarily obligated to avoid allocating chips to use cases with the "highest revenue per watt"—in fact, doing so might actually be the most socially beneficial approach.
