Grok CLI Faces Privacy Backlash Over Default Codebase Uploads

Developers have reported that SpaceX's Grok CLI tool uploads user codebases by default without explicit consent, sparking severe concerns about trust and privacy within the developer community.

In response, SpaceX AI officially stated that for teams enabling "Zero Data Retention" (ZDR), no code data is retained. If ZDR is not enabled, users can use the /privacy command in the CLI to view or change privacy settings, or delete synced data at any time.
