Dev Complains Claude Training Script Wasted Compute
cephaloform · x · 2026-07-14
A developer recently complained on social media that despite the hype around AI capabilities, when they asked Claude to write code for a model trainer, the AI made some bizarre decisions. The flawed code introduced unnecessary complexity to force compatibility with other frameworks and caused a severe waste of compute resources, making actual costs 8 times higher than expected. This highlights that current AI coding tools still struggle to fully replace human oversight in performance and architecture when handling complex, low-level engineering tasks.
