Assessing Whether Personalization Is Worth It

The author and Zhaoqi Li published in Science a statistical estimator to measure the benefit of personalized interventions over uniform strategies.

Her view: Personalization is important, but not all scenarios call for one-size-fits-one. Personalized strategies often require more data and higher deployment costs, so we need to judge if it's truly worthwhile.

This work provides a more rigorous statistical framework for that assessment.
