Engineers from EPFL and MIT jointly developed a 300-gram biomimetic flapping-wing robot. Mimicking diving birds, it can swim underwater and transition seamlessly into flight without needing a surface run-up.
This Flying Amphibious Aerial Vehicle (FAAV) has the potential to revolutionize high-risk marine exploration and enable low-cost marine biological sampling.
