Packaging Motion Aesthetics into AI Skills: Frontend Practice
aigclink · x · 2026-07-12
Former Vercel and Linear engineer Emil Kowalski released a set of AI skills for design engineers, aiming to fix common "aesthetic flaws" agents make when generating UI (like choosing wrong easing or rigid border styles).
Includes five core skills:
- emil-design-eng: The main skill providing motion and design advice;
- review-animations: Audits animations against strict standards;
- animation-vocabulary: Standardizes vocabulary for communicating animations with AI;
- apple-design: Translates Apple's WWDC design principles into web rules;
- improve-animations: Uses a premium model to audit the entire codebase, scores it across 8 dimensions, generates a priority list, and outputs an execution plan for a cheaper model to execute.
This approach perfectly illustrates the classic agent delegation strategy: "expensive model plans, cheap model executes," effectively translating human aesthetic taste into actionable AI rules.
