Will AI Stagnate or March Toward ASI?

The author notes that the divide between "AI will stagnate" and "achieving ASI in ten to twenty years" is ubiquitous in reality.
They also propose a take: even if highly "human-like" AI employees don't emerge in the future, "Excel" will no longer be an appropriate analogy. If AI can truly fully automate AI research, its way of working will be far more radical and unlike traditional software than today's tools.
