Making a YC Launch Video in 2 Days with Fable 5

Matt Chow shared how they used Fable 5 + Remotion to create a 75-second YC launch video in just 1.5 days.
- Agencies quoted around $4,000–$8,000 with a 2–4 week timeline; a Fiverr freelancer would cost $500–$2,000 and take over a week.
- They opted for a DIY approach because buyers view video quality as a trust signal, and they wanted unlimited revisions and full creative control.
- The core concept is "making videos with code," allowing asset reuse. For instance, the motion graphics from the launch video were repurposed on their website, making the second video virtually free.
- Workflow-wise, they used spare moments to write scripts and iterate with clients, ultimately choosing a "live-action + product demo" structure.
- They also used GPT-Image-2 for keyframe storyboards to finalize wall text, logos, and product shots, compiling reference animations and storyboards into a PDF.
- For the live-action shoot, they used their apartment clubhouse featuring a brick wall, greenery, and natural light. Filming took less than an hour; most time was spent on lighting and mic setup.
