The Internet Archive has been quietly recording news channels for 17 years and indexing every closed caption — 4.43 million broadcasts going back to 2009. Its TV News Archive now lets you search the actual words people said on air: type a phrase and get the channel, date, timestamp, plus the surrounding 30-second clip.

This unlocks analyses television never intended: tracking how a phrase enters the language, comparing how four networks covered the same hour, or finding the exact broadcast that aired when something happened to you.
