Subagent Design Will Drive Up Demand for Open-Weight Models

The author states they won't include sub-agent tools by default in Pi. Instead, when similar behavior is needed, they will explicitly route it through herdr and new Pi instances.
They believe this design will continue pushing enterprise clients spending money on API tokens toward open-weight models, as sub-agent orchestration, context control, and invocation methods directly impact both cost and user experience.
