Paper: Parallel Drafting-Based Reasoning

This post references a paper arguing that reasoning doesn't necessarily require longer chain-of-thought.
The paper proposes a pipeline called PDR:
- draft in parallel: generate multiple drafts simultaneously;
- distill into a compact workspace: compress information into a compact workspace;
- refine: refine the output.
The author believes this approach can push the cost/performance Pareto frontier while maintaining reasoning quality. The poster simply admits they missed this paper when it came out and found it fascinating upon re-reading.
