Meta Pulls Instagram AI Avatars Feature Amid Heavy User Backlash

Following massive controversy, Meta announced the shutdown of its newly launched Instagram AI image generation feature. The tool allowed users to generate AI images using content from any public Instagram account simply by @ mentioning them, without requiring the account owner's permission. Originally intended as a creative tool, Meta has now retracted the feature.
