Early Tests Show GPT 5.6 Excels at Catching Bugs
wightmanr · x · 2026-07-11
The author just gained access to GPT 5.6 today and reports a positive initial experience.
They noted that in a recent project, 5.6 sol successfully caught several hidden bugs that Fable, GPT 5.5, and Opus 4.8 completely missed even after multiple rounds of review. Overall, the author feels that compared to previous iterations, Fable seems more like an incremental update rather than a paradigm shift. While they plan to continue testing, they currently don't feel they will miss the older version that was phased out from the max plans.
