API for Running Local Small Models on Mobile Phones
Key-Outcome-2927 · reddit · 2026-07-10
The author released a local interface for managing two small models, aiming to run them directly on mobile phones. Current progress includes: - The 4B model performs well on high-end phones. - The 1.7B model still has stability issues when reasoning is enabled. - They are using a 32B model as a teacher to distill the smaller models, expecting to train with around 130,000 samples. - Once the dataset is fully prepared, they hope to further boost the 1.7B model's performance, noting that the current approach does not rely on LoRA.
