Cost-Performance Tips for Agentic Coding Models
rasbt · x · 2026-07-10
For agentic coding scenarios, the core advice from this post is:
- If you don't need the extreme performance of the Terra Ultra tier, it's usually more worthwhile to use the Luna model with the effort turned up, as it offers better cost-performance and delivers similar or even better results.
- Anything below Sol High can generally be ignored in favor of high-effort Luna.
- Opt for Terra Ultra only when stronger capabilities are required; the author believes the extra cost of Sol Ultra over Sol Max is probably not worth it.
