xAI Launches Grok 4.5: A Cost-Effective Model for Coding and Agents

xAI has released the new Grok 4.5 model, trained using tens of thousands of Nvidia GB300 GPUs. Although it slightly trails Fable 5 and GPT-5.5 in coding benchmarks, its cost-effectiveness is exceptionally high.
- Economical and Efficient: Priced at only $2 per million input tokens, it requires less than a quarter of the tokens needed by Opus 4.8 for the same tasks.
- Product Positioning: The company emphasizes its focus on coding and agentic workflows, drastically optimizing speed and costs while delivering near-frontier model capabilities. It is expected to launch in the EU in mid-July.
