Vibe Coding Best Practices: Managing AI With an Agile Mindset

dotey · x · 2026-07-10

Developers using AI for coding (Vibe Coding) often struggle with overwhelmingly large volumes of generated code that are hard to review. To solve this, they can borrow agile development and continuous integration concepts from traditional software engineering: break large tasks into small features, have the AI complete only small, verifiable chunks at a time, and pair this with automated testing to continuously review and correct, ensuring code quality. Furthermore, directing an AI Agent is much like an Engineering Manager (EM) leading a dev team. Developers must take on the roles of understanding requirements, decomposing tasks, and verifying results. While AI doesn't need emotional support, it lacks initiative and global context, requiring deep human involvement for guidance and control.
