European Parliament Passes Chat Control 1.0 Privacy Bill

The European Parliament has passed the "Chat Control 1.0" bill, which will allow Big Tech companies to voluntarily scan users' private messages. A motion to block the bill required an absolute majority of 361 votes but failed by receiving only 314. Meanwhile, "Chat Control 2.0," which mandates the scanning of private messages, is currently in the works.
