Virtual Cells Do More Than Perturbation Prediction

The author points out that the goal of virtual cells shouldn't merely be improving the accuracy of perturbation predictions; prediction is just a means, not the end. The ultimate goal is to build a foundation model for downstream drug discovery tasks, including target identification, mechanism of action inference, toxicity prediction, biomarker discovery, and therapy design.
