Claude Code Exposed for Silent A/B Testing

A user reports that Anthropic quietly enabled A/B experiments in their local Claude Code installation, overriding settings after auto-update was disabled, and appended experiment flags to each request via CLI. As a result, Opus 4.8's thinking summaries were removed from sessions, but removing the flag restored summary output for the same requests.
