3DGS Adds Native 360 Support: Faster and More Accurate Training

3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) rendering has added native 360-degree support, eliminating the need to first convert cameras into cube maps (cubemaps). By processing the full 360-degree perspective at each iteration, training becomes more accurate and faster. The implementation utilizes hybrid ray tracing + rasterization splatting; although slightly slower than standard 3DGS due to more atomic operations per pixel, it offers higher precision and naturally handles extreme camera angles.
