Xaira Releases First Virtual Cell Model X-Cell

Bo Wang of AI drug discovery company Xaira Therapeutics announced his promotion to Chief AI Scientist and introduced X-Cell, the team's first virtual cell model. X-Cell is not a perturbation predictor but aims to generalize to unseen biological scenarios: new cell types, new disease contexts, and new interventions. He emphasized that the bottleneck has never been the model itself, but rather causal, diverse, and experimentally grounded data. Concurrently, Ci Chu was promoted to Chief Discovery Officer, and former AbbVie executive Ian McCaffery joined as SVP of Translational Science.
