Research shows that J-space represents a small fraction of model activations, and ablating it barely impacts most performance metrics. However, when queried about a character's experience in this ablated state, the model's responses become mechanical and cold, entirely losing emotional tone—indicating that J-space is deeply tied to processing subjective, emotional content.
