Online RL: Benefits and the Brink of Catastrophic Failure

The author points out that the advantages of online RL only emerge when there are significant shifts in dynamics, which is highly difficult to navigate: if the gap is too small, no visual improvement is noticeable; if it's too large, it can trigger a catastrophic failure from which the model cannot recover.
