Fang Han on 'Content Inflation': Attention and Trust Are New Hard Currency

Fang Han, Chairman of昆仑万维 (Kunlun Wanwei), delivered a speech at the 2026 Global Digital Economy Conference AIGC Forum, introducing the concept of 'Content Inflation.' AI has caused content production costs to drop by orders of magnitude (e.g., custom music composition fell from $2,000 to <$0.01, 8-minute short films from $7,930 to $54, and million-Token inference from $60 to $0.05). This leads to an infinite expansion in content supply, making individual pieces harder to discover.
He pointed out that scarcity is shifting from production to human perception, making attention, trust, and storytelling the new 'hard currency.' Highly formulaic and templated mid-tier content will be diluted, while high-certainty content like blockbuster brands, premium IPs, and celebrity endorsements will still command a premium. Their overseas short-drama practices show that AI-driven monthly release capacity has surged from 20 to over 200 titles.
