Open Source CubeSandbox: AI Agent Sandbox with 60ms Startup
petrusenko_max · x · 2026-07-06
A Chinese team has open-sourced CubeSandbox, a hardware-isolated sandbox designed for AI agents. It boasts a startup time of under 60 milliseconds—over 3 times faster than Docker's approximate 200ms cold start. Each instance occupies only 5MB of memory, allowing thousands of AI agents to run on a single machine while being individually isolated at the hardware level. It serves as a direct replacement for E2B: users can retain their existing code by simply swapping a URL. This eliminates cold start overhead and avoids shared kernel risks, and the code is 100% open source.
