Anthropic Launches Claude Science, Ventures into Drug Discovery

Anthropic introduces Claude Science, aiming to revolutionize lab research just as Claude Code transformed programming. Drug discovery is far more complex than coding—molecules can fail due to biology, chemistry, safety, or dosage issues. Anthropic wants its researchers to experience these failures firsthand to shape the product accordingly.
The initial projects will focus on neglected diseases, including rare diseases and certain tropical diseases. The biological mechanisms in these areas are often clearer, but commercial incentives are weaker than for common diseases; many rare genetic diseases originate from a single gene defect.
