Nature Medicine: COMPASS Pan-Cancer Model Predicts Immunotherapy Response

A Harvard Medical School team published a paper in Nature Medicine introducing COMPASS, a pan-cancer foundation model that predicts immune checkpoint inhibitor responses by analyzing tumor transcriptomes. While about a quarter of advanced cancer patients derive lasting benefits from immunotherapy, existing tools (like TMB and PD-L1 staining) lack reliability across different cancer types. COMPASS not only predicts durable responses across various cancers but also uncovers the specific biological mechanisms behind each prediction, holding the potential to significantly improve precision in immunotherapy selection for advanced cancer patients.
