ByteDance had the biggest closure of the day: ByteDance Doubao/Seed (字节跳动豆包/Seed) closed 30 roles and added none, leaving 825 open.

Company moves

Across the 32 companies tracked, 22 roles were added and 59 closed in the day. Most of the other companies in the data had no change.

OpenAI added 2 and closed 8, ending at 811 open. The additions are "Senior Counsel, AI Product" (Legal; Washington, DC and San Francisco) and the data-center equipment quality role above. One is a legal role tied to products. The other is hardware supply-chain work.

Anthropic added 1 and closed 3, leaving 675 open. The new role is "Data Engineer" in Engineering & Design - Product, listed for San Francisco, New York City and Seattle.

NVIDIA added 4 and closed 8, leaving 555 open. Besides the power and thermal architect and the duplicated "Senior Technical Program Manager - GPU Software" posting (each listed in 3 locations), it added "Senior Data Scientist, Data Quality and AI Evaluation" in Santa Clara.

SpaceXAI added 4 and closed 1, leaving 308 open. All four additions are the Memphis-area data-center construction and controls roles listed above.

Meta AI added 2 and closed 2, so it holds at 309 open. The two PhD internships are in Menlo Park, with one also listed for Bellevue, WA.

Apple AIML (苹果 AIML) added 1 and closed 4, leaving 301 open. The addition is "Machine Learning Research Engineer" in Seattle.

Perplexity added 3 and closed none, reaching 138 open. All three are in corporate functions: Finance, IT and Legal.

Together AI added 2 and closed none, reaching 88 open, both in Marketing. Scale AI added 1 and closed none, reaching 170 open, with "Head of Corporate Accounting" on the CFO Team.

StepFun (阶跃星辰) added 1 and closed 2, leaving 322 open. The new role is "安卓稳定性工程师" (Android stability engineer), listed for 南山区 and 徐汇区.

MiniMax (Hailuo) (MiniMax 海螺) added 1 and closed none, reaching 189 open. The role is "海外算力中心交付PM" (overseas compute-center delivery PM), listed for 北京 and 上海.

ByteDance Doubao/Seed closed 30 roles with no additions, leaving 825 open. The data does not say which roles closed.

Anthropic's and OpenAI's closures, like NVIDIA's 8, are visible in the counts, but the data doesn't show which postings were removed.

What it signals

The 7-day figures show a field that is expanding unevenly. Across all 32 companies, 365 roles were added over seven days. 298 of those came from global labs and 67 from Chinese labs. OpenAI (63), Meta AI (54), Anthropic (37) and NVIDIA (36) account for 190 of the global additions. Google DeepMind added 28 over the week despite adding nothing today, so its hiring comes in bursts.

Compute and physical buildout is the clearest thread today. SpaceXAI's Memphis postings are construction supervision and power-plant controls. OpenAI's is manufacturing quality for data-center equipment. NVIDIA's is power and thermal architecture. MiniMax's "海外算力中心交付PM" points to delivery of compute capacity outside China. These are only a handful of postings, but together they show infrastructure hiring reaching past software and research. SpaceXAI's weekly total is 18 and its open count is 308, so the Memphis cluster is a large share of its recent additions.

The Chinese labs look more uneven than the global ones. StepFun added 27 roles over seven days, Baidu AI (百度 AI) added 13 and ModelBest (面壁智能) added 10. Moonshot AI (月之暗面 Kimi), Zhipu AI (智谱 AI), Meituan LongCat (美团·龙猫) and Alibaba Tongyi Qwen (阿里通义千问) added none in seven days. DeepSeek (深度求索) added one. Among global labs, Microsoft AI, Mistral AI, Aleph Alpha and Genmo also added none. A seven-day window is short, and a zero can reflect a stable team as easily as a freeze.

Smaller companies are growing around the edges rather than in research. Perplexity's three new roles (procurement, IT and IP paralegal) and Together AI's two field-marketing roles, including one in London for EMEA, suggest operations and go-to-market are growing at both. Cursor (6 added in seven days), Lovable (4) and Cohere (8) are adding at a modest pace. ByteDance's 30 closures in a day look large against its 7 additions over the week, but one day cannot show whether that is a trend or a routine clear-out of filled roles.
