32 frontier AI labs · 7 roles added in 24h · agihunt.info/en/jobs

Today at a glance

  • SpaceX pushes human data into medicine: SpaceXAI opened two "Expert Team Lead" roles under its Human Data function — one in Engineering, one in Medicine — both spanning Palo Alto plus Asia, Australia, Canada, Europe and remote locations, suggesting its data-labeling operation is stretching past general engineering tasks into specialized medical-domain expertise.
  • Anthropic staffs up hardware-specific legal counsel: A new Commercial Counsel, Hardware opening in San Francisco is the clearest signal yet that Anthropic is building dedicated legal capacity around hardware contracts, consistent with growing compute or device commitments.
  • Perplexity adds multimodal engineering management: An Engineering Manager, (Multimodal) role in AI Products (San Francisco/Palo Alto) points to Perplexity building out a management layer specifically for multimodal work rather than only adding individual contributors.
  • Apple's "Proactive" hire: A Machine Learning Engineer, Proactive opening in Cupertino hints at continued investment in predictive or proactive assistant capabilities within Apple's ML and AI group.
  • A net-negative day overall: across the 32 companies tracked, only 7 roles opened against 19 closures in the last 24 hours, with Anthropic (6 closed) and Cerebras (3 closed) accounting for nearly half of that total.

Company moves

OpenAI (830 open, +2/-2 today, +73 over 7 days) added a Technical Recruiter in People and a Deal Lead, Special Situations in Partnerships — growing its own hiring pipeline while also building capacity for complex commercial arrangements.

Anthropic (618 open, +1/-6 today, +51 over 7 days) posted only one new role, Commercial Counsel, Hardware, but logged the day's largest drop with six closures — a heavier cull even as its weekly pace stays among the highest tracked.

Apple AIML (293 open, +1 today, +15 over 7 days) added the Machine Learning Engineer, Proactive role noted above under Machine Learning and AI.

SpaceXAI (276 open, +2/-2 today, +31 over 7 days) opened the two Expert Team Lead, Human Data postings described above, covering Engineering and Medicine.

Perplexity (123 open, +1/-1 today, +8 over 7 days) added the Engineering Manager, (Multimodal) role in AI Products.

Google DeepMind (谷歌 DeepMind) (73 open, -1 today, +26 over 7 days), Scale AI (203 open, -2 today, +3 over 7 days) and Cerebras (112 open, -3 today, +7 over 7 days) each recorded closures with no new postings today; Cerebras's three closures were the largest unoffset drop of the day.

Baidu AI (百度 AI) and ByteDance Doubao/Seed (字节跳动豆包/Seed) each closed a single role today with no additions — modest moves set against much larger 7-day gains of +15 and +19 respectively.

The remaining companies — Microsoft AI, Meta AI, NVIDIA, Mistral AI, Cursor, Lovable, Cohere, Together AI, Pika Labs, Aleph Alpha, Genmo, Moonshot AI (月之暗面 Kimi), DeepSeek (深度求索), Zhipu AI (智谱 AI), StepFun (阶跃星辰), ModelBest (面壁智能), Meituan LongCat (美团·龙猫), Tencent Hunyuan (腾讯混元), MiniMax (Hailuo) (MiniMax 海螺), 01.AI (Yi) (零一万物), SenseTime SenseNova (商汤日日新) and Alibaba Tongyi Qwen (阿里通义千问) — saw no change in headcount today.

What it signals

The 7-day figures show a clear split in pace between the global and Chinese cohorts. The 19 global labs tracked added 356 roles over the week, versus 67 across the 13 China-based labs — and the gap holds even when scaled by company size. ByteDance Doubao/Seed carries the largest open count of any company tracked (891) yet added only 19 over the week; Baidu AI (477 open) added 15. By contrast, OpenAI (830 open) added 73 and Microsoft AI (622 open) added 66 — both outpacing their China-side counterparts by a wide margin relative to headcount. That doesn't mean China's labs are hiring less in absolute terms, but the tempo of new requisitions per open role looks noticeably slower.

Within the global cohort itself, OpenAI and Microsoft AI stand well apart from the rest: their 73 and 66 additions over 7 days dwarf Google DeepMind's 26, Meta AI's 28 and NVIDIA's 27. That pairing is consistent with two closely linked organizations scaling applied and go-to-market functions in tandem, while DeepMind and Meta's more measured pace tracks with research organizations that expand headcount less continuously.

Today's specific additions point to two different flavors of labs moving toward more specialized, real-world deployment. Anthropic's Commercial Counsel, Hardware suggests legal infrastructure is being built around physical compute or device commitments, while SpaceXAI's Expert Team Lead, Medicine posting shows its human-data pipeline diversifying beyond general-purpose engineering tasks into a specific applied domain. Neither is a large hire on its own, but both indicate labs staffing narrowly for domain-specific needs rather than broad headcount growth.

The day's net was negative — 7 additions against 19 closures — but that should be read against a 7-day net of 423 additions across all 32 companies, dominated by heavy closure activity at only two labs (Anthropic and Cerebras). A single day's closures concentrated in a couple of companies is not enough, on this data, to suggest any broader pullback in frontier AI hiring.
