World Labs Launches Frameboy, a Real-Time Demo of its Atlas World Model
On November 6, World Labs released Frameboy (research preview), a real-time world model demo that lets users explore 3D worlds generated by its autoregressive world model Atlas directly in the browser. Frameboy is a heavily optimized variant of Atlas, tuned for the fastest and most efficient inference; rendering happens on cloud GPUs with frames streamed to the browser, reaching up to 15fps under camera control.
Confirmed
- World Labs released Atlas two months ago—an autoregressive world model supporting pixel-accurate camera control, and the technical foundation for Frameboy.
- Frameboy runs via cloud GPU streaming at up to 15fps, letting users explore world-model-generated scenes in real time.
- Frameboy has been integrated into World Labs' beta web app Viewfinder as a streaming additive rendering mode: users can first build a scene frame by frame from their own inputs, then explore and extend those scenes in real time.
Why it matters
- World models typically demand massive compute; Frameboy demonstrates a path to turning them into real-time interactive experiences via cloud streaming, lowering the barrier to entry—accessible from a browser.
- The integration with Viewfinder bridges "generation" and "exploration": build a scene first, then extend it in real time, reflecting the trend of world models moving from research toward productization.
