Runway Launches App Studio: Build Creative Apps from Natural Language
On October 27, Runway officially launched App Studio: users simply describe the creative app they want in natural language, and the platform handles coding, testing, and deployment automatically—no code writing, API key setup, or self-hosting required.
Confirmed
- Apps can directly call Runway's image, video, and audio generation models; Agent sessions or Workflows can be turned into apps with one click
- Support for team Brand Kits keeps output stylistically consistent across versions
- Available for individuals and teams
- In the launch thread, the official account demoed a Character Swap app: upload an existing video, assign a new character to the scene, and the entire video is re-enacted with that character—no reshooting needed; the app itself was generated by App Studio from a natural language description
- Follow-up official posts included additional product examples such as script read-throughs
Why it matters
App Studio packages Runway's generative model capabilities into a "describe it and it's an app" product, dramatically lowering the barrier to building creative tools—creators and teams without engineering backgrounds can quickly build and deploy their own branded creative workflows.
