Anthropic Launches Always-On Personal Agent Claude Duet

On October 22, Anthropic released Claude Duet, an always-on personal agent, currently available as a research preview. Dan Shipper, founder of Every and tech writer, along with his team got early hands-on access for two weeks and publicly called Duet the first personal agent he considers worthy of being called a "professional tool," with an overall verdict of impressed. The most visible change is usage habits: he went from "basically all ChatGPT" to splitting his time 50/50 between ChatGPT and Claude, making it the first product to genuinely take away his ChatGPT usage time in the personal assistant scenario.

Why it matters

Personal agents are widely seen as the next form of AI products, but most previous offerings stayed at the demo level. Shipper, a heavy ChatGPT user, shifting his attention is a signal that a personal agent has for the first time taken real attention away from ChatGPT in sustained real-world use, a landmark moment for the competitive landscape of the personal assistant space.
