Dreamina's $0.29 First-Month Promo Sparks AI Price War Debate
Dreamina, ByteDance's AI creation platform (the international version of Jimeng), has launched a limited-time promotion: the Basic plan costs just $0.29 for the first month, a 98% discount, running until October 30. The plan includes 1,575 generation credits per month, enough for roughly 19 ten-second Seedance videos or about 393 images. After the promotion, the Basic tier reverts to $15/month.
Confirmed
- The $0.29 promotional price, 98% discount, and October 30 deadline are cross-verified by multiple posts
- The Basic plan includes 1,575 credits, roughly 19 ten-second Seedance videos or about 393 images (@LearnWithBishal, @FellMentKE, etc.)
- Basic reverts to $15/month after the promo; higher tiers Standard/Advanced/Ultra are priced at $21.6/$95 per month respectively (@HeyAmit, @FellMentKE), with Standard at $21.6/month including 3,885 credits
- Relationship between Dreamina and Seedance: Dreamina is ByteDance's creation platform entry point, with Seedance providing AI video generation within that workflow; the promotion covers Seedance 2.0 and 2.5 (@azedai, @FellMentKE)
Unconfirmed
- @HeyAmit's claim that "Seedance 2.5 costs as low as $0.01 per second" lacks a comparable calculation method in other posts
- Credit details for each tier and full pricing for higher tiers are only mentioned in some posts; exact terms should be verified on the official subscription page
Why it matters
- @LearnWithBishal frames this as a price war against competitors priced at $9–24; ByteDance's low pricing could squeeze the pricing room of rival video generation products like Runway and Pika
- @eyishazyer and @azedai both caution that beyond the promo price, what matters is how many credits cover real creative workloads—the $0.29 headline price doesn't mean low long-term costs, as the $15/month fee from the second month onward is the real ongoing cost
