Developer launches "Is it vibe coded?" tool that scores websites for AI-generated design
On October 18, developer sahilypatel launched a fun detection tool called Is it vibe coded? (is-it-vibecoded.vercel.app): paste any URL and it will judge whether the site was built via AI "vibe coding".
Confirmed
- The tool was built and launched by sahilypatel, available at is-it-vibecoded.vercel.app
- It works by reading a page's HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, looking for typical design traces of AI-generated sites, such as purple gradients, Claude-style beige with terracotta, and certain heading styles — so-called "design fingerprints"
- The tool returns a 0–100 Slop Score along with verdict tiers like "HARD TO SAY"; in one example, a score of 25/100 produced exactly such an ambiguous verdict
- The author admits the tool isn't perfect and is openly soliciting feedback
Why it matters
- The tool responds to the debate over the flood of AI-generated content in a playful way: if a vibe-coded page goes unflagged, the prompt was well written; if a hand-coded page gets flagged as AI-made, the coding style is perhaps "too AI-flavored"
- The "design fingerprint" approach shows it may be possible to infer how a site was built purely from front-end artifacts, without access to source code — a useful reference for AI content detection
