Intel's Crescent Island data center GPU becomes D-Series D270 with 480GB memory
At the OCP Global Summit, Intel officially revealed the product naming for its data center AI inference GPU formerly codenamed Crescent Island: it joins the D series, with the known model being the D270. Built on the Xe3P architecture, the card carries 160GB of LPDDR5X memory per card, with partner system configurations reaching up to 480GB; it offers 1.5TB/s memory bandwidth, 1.3 PFLOPS of FP8 compute, a 350W TDP, and comes in air-cooled PCIe form factors, targeting cost-effective inference. No pricing has been announced.
Confirmed
- The D series is the former Crescent Island project; D270 is the revealed model, with renders circulating on X showing the full card and bare die close-ups
- Specs: 480GB LPDDR5X (at partner system level), 1.5TB/s memory bandwidth, 1.3 PFLOPS FP8, 350W TDP, air cooling
- Technical details were disclosed at the OCP Global Summit, continuing the AI accelerator roadmap first announced last October
Unconfirmed
- Official pricing and availability have not been announced
- A blower-style version for prosumer workstations is merely a wish from the poster (@MonadMaya), not official information
Why it matters
- Large LPDDR5X capacity combined with lower power draw and a PCIe form factor targets the cost-sensitive AI inference market, differentiating it from high-end HBM training cards
- The D series naming signals Intel's data center GPU lineup becoming more systematic, leaving room for future model iterations
