As LLM research outgrows pure language, NLP work is migrating to ICML/ICLR/NeurIPS, which industry also prefers, leaving venues like NAACL with fewer submissions. An OpenAI researcher says only three kinds of papers still go to CL conferences, mostly award-chasing ones.
