Dan Jeffries Open-Sources Nautilo, a Multi-Agent Chat and Collaboration System for All Platforms

On September 17, former Pinecone founding team member Dan Jeffries released the open-source project Nautilo—a 100% open-source "organization-grade agent harness" that rebuilds chat and collaboration from scratch for the agent era, covering server, desktop, Web, Android, and iPhone, with every user getting a dedicated lifelong AI assistant called "Genie."

Why it matters

Jeffries points out that existing chat platforms like WhatsApp and Signal were built before LLMs, treating bots as spam to be blocked; unofficial agents can even violate terms of service, and WhatsApp's business platform doesn't allow deploying agents in regular group chats. Nautilo aims to solve three pain points of the agent era—group chat collaboration, privacy isolation, and human-machine co-creation—at the protocol and architecture level, released fully open source.
