Ex-Pinecone member open-sources Nautilo, rebuilding chat and collaboration for the agent era

On September 17, Dan Jeffries, a former Pinecone founding team member, released Nautilo, a 100% open-source organizational agent harness that rebuilds chat and collaboration from scratch for the agent era, spanning server, desktop, web, Android and iPhone, with every user getting a dedicated lifelong AI assistant called Genie. Independent author kevinkern relayed the launch on September 18, and on September 19 Jeffries demoed the built-in video editing workflow.

Why it matters

Jeffries argues that existing chat platforms like WhatsApp and Signal predate LLMs, treat bots as spam to be blocked, ban unofficial agents under their terms of service, and don't allow agents in ordinary group chats. Nautilo aims to solve group-chat collaboration, privacy isolation and human-AI co-creation at the protocol and architecture level, fully open source.
