Naveen Rao's Chip Startup Tapes Out in 5 Months, Runs AI at Under 900nJ

Unconventional AI, founded by former Intel executive Naveen Rao, made its first public hardware disclosure at the All-In Summit in September: starting with no team in January, it taped out a chip in just 5 months and received silicon back this summer. The chip runs the Un-0 model released in June, marking the first large-scale demonstration of real computation using a causal physical dynamics system, drawing attention for both its efficiency path and unusually fast execution.
