Townie AI Agents Can Now Join Group Chats and Act on Their Own Browser
Town AI announced a major update to its personal AI agent Townie: users can now introduce their Townie to contacts and add it to group text conversations, and can also bring friends' Townies into the same group so multiple agents interact and collaborate. Once added, a Townie can not only chat but also autonomously complete tasks such as shopping in its own browser session on behalf of users or group members.
Confirmed
- The feature targets group text conversations: users can introduce Townie to contacts and add it to group chats
- Townie has its own browser session and can browse and complete tasks like shopping autonomously
- Townies belonging to different users can collaborate with each other
- The product is powered by thelinqapp
- Developer tonydevincenzi said this was one of the most enjoyable things he has built
Why it matters
- The update pushes personal AI assistants from one-on-one chats into group settings, making the agent a group member that executes tasks directly rather than just offering advice
- A built-in browser gives Townie independent agency, and cross-user agent collaboration showcases a new form of multi-agent social interaction
