Xnative Launches Native macOS App for Grok Build
Daniel_Farinax showcased Xnative's native macOS desktop app update for Grok Build, stating it has evolved from barely usable to a fully-featured engineering workflow. The core highlight is bringing the terminal-based Grok CLI experience into a native interface, heavily enhancing project, session, and long-task management, while integrating Grok Build + Grok 4.5 capabilities.
Key Details
At the project level, the app maps each project directly to a local Mac folder. Users can favorite, group, search, and switch projects with one click, while Grok automatically runs in the correct working directory, eliminating manual `cd` operations. For chats, it supports multi-tab sessions, streaming replies, and Shift+Return for line breaks. Each session can individually save configurations like model, effort, permissions, and max turns without affecting other tabs. It also offers easier slash command autocompletion and streams file changes directly in the chat as Grok modifies code.
Workflow Capabilities
Daniel_Farinax highlighted the visual Loop feature: users can set execution intervals and prompts within the UI, and Xnative will host the loop task in the background, displaying a countdown, next trigger time, and a stop button. For long conversations, the app introduces a Context bar and Compact feature to compress history. When Grok is busy, the message queue allows users to continue editing, reordering, or pausing pending messages. The interface also clearly displays statuses like LIVE / OPEN, LOOP, and RUNNING, along with queued message badges.
File and Performance Updates
The new version adds a Files pane to browse project and session files, supporting context-range viewing, code highlighting, and image preview to reduce Finder switching. The 07-14 update brought chat image embedding and real-time streaming updates. Daniel_Farinax also mentioned performance optimizations and fixes, including drag-and-drop improvements, reduced polling frequency, idle tab unloading, and Markdown caching.
