Palantir co-founder Alex Karp has aggressively promoted the "Sovereign AI revolution" in an internal address, defining it as the most important movement since the advent of Large Language Models.
Karp describes Sovereign AI as a "rebellion" against the monopoly of closed models. He argues that the current paradigm—where institutional and personal data is harvested into closed models and rented back to users—is unsustainable. Palantir aims to empower institutions to own and protect their data sovereignty, thereby maintaining their unique competitive advantage.
