Report author admits transparency failure on AI R&D acceleration section amid METR critiques

- Responding to METR's critiques, the report's author admits one of his biggest drafting failures was not investing enough time to make the public version of the AI R&D section clear and transparent.
- He flags a second issue: the paragraph below it in the public report makes it sound like whether leading-indicator acceleration is above or below 2 is the primary factor for RSP threshold determination, when in fact RSP talks about 2x in aggregate capabilities.
- The private report does not make an RSP threshold claim solely on that number, and judged that overall progress had not accelerated that much at the time, since the AECI analysis did not look faster.
